Kinhaven is a tabletop roleplaying game where ]sentient animal-folk resistance meets a lean, elegant system designed to support story and connection.

The Isles of Kinhaven are a vast realm, home to dozens of species of sentient animal-folk, wolves and foxes, hawks and ravens, crocodiles and axolotls, who have built communities shaped by cooperation, care for the land, and deep respect for one another's differences.

But in this world is a growing threat, the Kolumbidae Empire, an expansionist power arriving by ship with its eyes on Kinhaven's resources and no interest in what its people have spent generations creating. The question at the heart of every campaign is how ordinary people, your characters, respond to that.

The basic rules to play Kinhaven are friendly, simple, easy to pick up, and designed for a pretty quick start. 

Accessibility Without Flatness

The system is lean and elegant: three core attributes (Strength, Agility, Mind), a handful of secondary stats, and a single d20 resolution mechanic. But it's not shallow. The species modifier system is well-balanced with clear exchange rules, and the guidelines support your own customization. The goal is that new players can onboard fast while experienced players will appreciate the thoughtful design.

Huge Species Variety with Mechanical Impact

With almost 30 playable species across three kingdoms, from Hummingbird People to Crocodile People to Axolotl People, each one has a distinct stat profile and identity. The Axolotl's unique healing ability, the Tortoise's natural armor at the cost of Readiness, or the Hummingbird's tiny-but-lightning-fast build, species choice actually matters mechanically and narratively.

Playtesting Before our Kickstarter

Right now we're getting ready for a Kickstarter to fund the rest of the game's art. If you're up for playing from a rules system that has more sketches than finished art, we'd love any help playtesting the game.
